TARGET CENTER ARENA  [ 10/16/2008 ] [ back ]
FLYHOUSE AWARDED $1M ACOUSTICAL CONTRACT FOR THE MINNEAPOLIS ARENA

Launched in 1990, the 19,000-seat $104M Target Center is part of AEG Facilities, and plays host to a wide array of events from major sports events to world class entertainment and concerts by today's hottest stars.

In fall of 2008, the City of Minneapolis and Target Center awarded a $1M acoustical upgrade contract to Flyhouse - chartering the company with lowering the venue's low frequency reverberation times and eliminating echoes and discrete reflections.

To resolve these issues, Flyhouse hung over 5,000 fiberglass acoustical baffles in the ceiling, and covered the arena's concrete and exposed steel surfaces with additional baffling.

Between 4-6 inches thick, the black panels are designed to blend into the canted roof and other areas and leave no visual impact on the arena.

Working around the NBA season and Target Center's busy concert schedule, Flyhouse installed over 150,000 square feet of material allowing for the ongoing improvement of the audience's experience without revenue loss to the arena.

"The City of Minneapolis and our management is committed to providing our fans with the best, most state-of-the-art systems and amenities available in our industry," said Target Center's General Manager, Steve Mattson.
